JOB DESCRIPTION – KITCHEN SERVER
This person is passionate about delivering great food and customer service and who will assist the kitchen manager in the day to day running of the Tea Room. You will have great communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
The role includes but not limited to:
- Sanitise food preparation and serving areas
- Prepare, arrange and serve sandwiches and other items on the menu when ordered.
- Ensure items are prepared and received by the customer in good time.
- Give estimate of expected food consumption
- Advise kitchen manager when certain foods are getting low
- Attention to detail and presentation of food
- Ensure that the equipment is always in the right condition; report to Supervisor/Manager when any fault occurs
- Excellent knowledge and use of the allergy information
- Giving advice, guidance and recommendations on products and menu selection to customers to ensure a positive experience and repeat business
- Ensuring adequate stock levels of supplies and consumables for tea room area, managing orders and stock rotation
- Managing queues and meeting customer expectations
- Keeping the kitchen areas tidy and clean including table clearing, removing dirties and waste
- Potwash
- Handling customer complaints in the first instance and reporting feedback to the Supervisors / Managers
- Assisting with unloading deliveries in a quick and efficient manor
- Working within established guidelines and operating procedures
- Ensuring compliance with all legislation, H&S and food hygiene
The personal skills that is required for the job:
- Having a friendly and engaging personality, a good communicator, able to work under pressure.
- Comfortable working with members of the public, able to initiate conversations and provide a sincere welcome and enjoy providing good service.
- Need to be willing to learn, take instruction and work under own initiative, supporting other team members and able to multitask.
- Assistants will be on their feet for most of the day and may be required to lift and carry trays and crockery, restocking shelves etc.
- You should have a comprehensive understanding of the menu and have a keen interest in food and drink.
- An effective, well organised and efficient team player with a strong sense of discipline and urgency.
- Excellent standards of personal presentation smart appearance and articulate.
- Food Hygiene qualifications.
- Previous catering experience essential.
HOURS: Every other Saturday 8.30 am – 4pm and Sunday 9am – 4pm. There will be opportunity for overtime.
IMPORTANT : You will be required to keep up to date your food safety and hygiene qualifications.
JOB DESCRIPTION – SUPERVISOR
This person will be serious, responsible, experienced, knows how to take control of workflow especially when it gets busy. To give direction to junior members of staff. Someone with an eye for detail and a proactive approach to work.
The role includes but not limited to:
- Open and close the tea room
- Have full knowledge of the food and drink
- Prepare the tea room for service
- Prepare and set out all food and beverage items prior to opening
- Have the ability to cook all pastries when required
- Manage workflow when it is busy
- Be in charge of the tea room, supervising the staff and giving them clear instructions
- Replenish fridges, dry goods, and coffee machines as needed
- Clear and clean tables
- Pot wash
- Maintain a tidy and enjoyable environment at all times
- Take charge of cleaning all cutlery, crockery and other work material throughout the shift
- Greet and serve guests in a personalised, polite and friendly manner
- Deal with any complaints in a calm and professional manor and report to the manager
- Take orders, serve customers and process card and cash payments with care
- Responsible for security (product and cash), taking payments accurately and be vigilant for shoplifters and fraudulent credit cards etc.
- Keeping up to date with special promotions and educating other members of staff
- Ensuring compliance with all legislation, H&S and food hygiene.
- Close down the tea room at the end of the day which includes the safe storage of food, clean down of the coffee machine and all associated equipment & closing the till
- Regularly check the coffee machine and equipment to ensure it is running to the correct specifications.

IMPORTANT: You will be responsible for a set of keys to the tea room which you must keep safe and should be returned if you wish to leave or move away from this role.
